BlackRock Highlights Weakness in Ethereum ETF: Lack of Staking
BlackRock’s Robbie Mitchnick has pointed out a major drawback of Ethereum ETFs - the absence of staking, which limits their competitiveness against direct investment strategies. Despite this, the Ethereum ETF from BlackRock has quickly gained popularity with $7 billion in assets under management since its launch, illustrating the appeal of institutions for a product that facilitates access to Ethereum without custody and security constraints.
Only 8.97 Million Ethereum (ETH) Left on Exchanges, Bullish Signal?
Amid Ethereum’s (ETH) continuous price drop, whales and long-term holders have seized the opportunity to buy the dip. On March 21, 2025, the on-chain analytics firm Santiment reported that during the ongoing price decline, crypto enthusiasts have significantly accumulated ETH tokens, leaving only 8.97 million ETH on exchanges, which indicates a bullish trend. This massive drop in exchange reserves has occurred for the first time in the past 10 years, with the last instance reported in November 2015. However, the current reserve is 16.4% lower than it was seven weeks ago, indicating potential accumulation by whales and long-term holders.
RWA Platform ZOTH Hacked for $8.85 Million
An RWA (real-world asset) platform built on Ethereum, Zoth, has suffered a malicious attack resulting in a loss of $8.85 million. Zoth, which describes itself as an ‘RWAFi’ platform, had already been hacked once earlier in March. Security experts believe this latest hack happened due to a compromised deployer wallet. Cyvers, a real-time security alert account, was the first to detect the suspicious transaction involving Zoth’s deployer wallet. The proxy contract ’USD0PPSubVaultUpgradeable’ was upgraded to a contract created by a suspicious address 30 minutes before the alert was raised.
SEC Roundtable Could Change Outlook for Ethereum ETFs
CNBC’s Tanaya Macheel reports that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is holding its first crypto regulation roundtable, focusing on defining the security status of crypto assets. This event marks the beginning of discussions by the SEC’s newly formed crypto task force, which could have significant implications for the broader cryptocurrency market. The SEC aims to provide clearer guidelines on whether certain crypto assets should be classified as securities, an issue that has created tension between the SEC and the crypto industry.
